Hang Ten

I sleep diagonally across my bed and for reasons known only to the cat, Polo sleeps in the same corner as my feet.  This means that when I stretch at night he gets jabbed by my toes.  Cats are weird.

I had an hour to kill in the CBD the other day so I spent it looking for pants for work.  It was rather unsuccessful – pants are either too short or made for people with no shape; also what is it with fake pockets!?  I want pockets.  Anyway, I was looking at random stuff and I used to be rather disgusted at items that weren’t ‘finished’ – no hems or things like that.  But then I got to thinking, I accept technological advancements readily enough so why not advancements in other areas?  And Aki bought a dress that isn’t hemmed and it has a really pretty drape-y effect.  If material doesn’t need to be hemmed, why hem it?  It’s silliness really.

Key Bearer

September 15, 2011 at 12:11 (Uncategorized)

I don’t actually have a Key Blade or, in fact, any keys but as a receptionist I appear to be the only one that can open closed doors.

X:  I need some transparencies.

NT: XX has them.

X: He’s left already.

NT:  Yeah – they’re in his office.

X: *castfallen*  The door is closed.

NT: It’s okay – I can open it and get them for you.

Offices have invisible barriers that only receptionsts, PAs and secreteries can open.  It’s a special power.

Crash Bash

Last night I watched Collision.   Enjoyable and gripping but no where near as clever or fast as The Lost Room.  I really enjoy miniseries, they are like an extended movie.  They give more character development and plot than a movie but don’t take nearly as long to watch as a regular TV series.  Not that I don’t enjoy TV series – at the moment I’m finding I enjoy them more than movies.

All Assignements are in for the year.  Taking a bit of a break and finishing up some sewing tasks that have been delayed before starting the exam study.  While I’m enjoying the music modules, they require a fair amount of effort because I have to listen to the music they talk about.

American sweets are as weird as their chocolate.  My gran gave me some sweets from the US for L and Beyah but I had to taste them to make sure they were safe 😛  Though I think it’s more want you are used to when it comes to food and drink.

Double Duty

September 12, 2011 at 09:40 (Uncategorized)

In the past I once had three jobs – all retail and each on a specific day.  I rather enjoyed the changing environment, though I was never fond of the Dungeon but the pay was good.  Last week I had two jobs but this time at the same time – receptionist and teacher.  So my days were started as reception then teaching, back to reception at break followed by some more teaching and the days ended with reception again.   While I enjoyed the teaching doing two jobs at once is mad.  Neither are difficult by both require some time.  This week I’m back to reception.  And probably for the next five weeks.

Saw Arthur and the Invisible yesterday – what a cute movie.  Made me think of The Minish Cap, which is also very cute.

UNISA granted another extension on assignment due date – what a relief.  Really struggling to keep up with assignments this semester.  I’ve also had the added bonus of being busy at work [not usually so] and the hoverings of a cold. But I have applied for three lovely sounding teaching jobs – Moscow, Prague and Poland, various places not sure where.  There is also a position in Georgia that sound rather nice as well but I would like the Moscow one for two reasons, it’s International House and they provide in house training to teachers.  The Georgian one does as well.

Want to sleep – tired, pain, gritty eyes… However, I know L and Beyah are at home.  And Beyah is a handful when I’m feeling okay.
