Dreaming my Dreams

January 31, 2011 at 16:19 (Uncategorized)

Waking at night for no obvious reason is annoying.  Being the incorrect recipient of a sms or phone call is more annoying and being woken up by your dreams is possibly the most annoying.

Cancel

Last week my piano meeting was cancelled, this week my viola meeting is cancelled.  And this is before I’ve even met the people.  Disappointing.  But tomorrow I’m going to my postponed piano meet.  I’m hoping it goes well and the guy understands what I want from him.

There was no Bleach last week which I don’t think is a particularly good thing.  The new story arc is weak at best and I don’t think waiting for chapters will help it.  As it stands I don’t know if I’m going to continue reading it.  I’ll give it a few more chapters but the story has to pick up, or rather, develop soon.

Google Translate

January 25, 2011 at 14:13 (Uncategorized)

I’ve not used Google Translate before, never really had a reason.  But I used it today and found it to be sufficient to understand a student and, more importantly, for her to understand me.  Two days of struggling solved in ten minutes.  I’ve added it to my favourites in case future students are just as poor in understanding.  It also didn’t help that when she did understand the question she answered in Portuguese.

The pool is back in sparkly shape.  And very tempting.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a laptop, it’s very nice and I like it a lot.  I did forget I had bought it by the time we got home and was fiddling with the new ironing board when I saw Aki reading through a computer mag we got at the store.  My thoughts were along the lines of ‘where did she pick up that?’ before I remembered.  I’ve been unsuccessful so far in getting it to type in Japanese though.  I’ve added ‘Japanese’ in the language place but while it types kana on the screen, it’s not the kana I want – a ‘s’ gives me ‘to’ which is completely incorrect.  Computers and cars equal ‘not simple’.

Bodies of water

January 21, 2011 at 16:13 (Uncategorized)

There is a pool at the school and I’ve spent the last two weeks getting it clean and sparkly.  It’s rather therapeutic to scoop leaves and I kind of imagine it’s something that could come in The Minish Cap – an arbitrary cute task.  However the pump was going all the time so the driver turned it off and set the timer, he said that if it didn’t turn on at 15h00 I should just turn it on manually.  It didn’t come on so I that was what I did.

Apart from making the most horrendous noise, the pump regurgitated mud and leaves back into the pool.  It is a mess again.  It’s like I forgot to save before moving onto the next task.

And it is waiting until Monday.

Bad vs Badder

January 19, 2011 at 13:40 (Uncategorized)

I have a little bit of a problem at work – bad tea or bad coffee.  I have recent got into drinking coffee but it’s real coffee with beans and doesn’t come in a tin or jar.  Coffee at work comes in a huge tin and the tea in a big box.  I like my tea a particular way with a particular brand so my choice is really bad tea or a coffee guised drink that I can make quite sweet.  I’ve tried just having hot water but I don’t like the taste of water and being hot makes it worse.   I tend to go with the faker coffee.

On days like today when I don’t have much work to do, I eat all my emergency snacks.  My snack drawer is now empty.

Envy

January 18, 2011 at 16:18 (Uncategorized)

One of the down sides of working for a  English school for foreigners is that I am reminded pretty much daily of my wanting to study Japanese in Japan.  It is currently completely out of my budget but I spend a few minutes everyday wonder if I would be as lost as some of the students here.  And then I look up some school and return reality as my budget is in shambles.  But one day…

Yesterday I was of the opinion that our builder had ducked but apparently he is coming tomorrow to finish up – we shall see.  The electrician is also coming tomorrow to put up some lights and change some light switches.

But once it is finish [for this round] it will look great.

A beautiful 2D short animation Aki-chan tweeted.  Both links show the same video but at different locations.

Oh!

January 14, 2011 at 10:03 (Uncategorized)

Completely missed Girl Genius Day.   But in other news…

Taking the car to work means I leave for work at 08h00 and get there at 08h10, I leave at 17h00 and get home at 17h10.  It is quite fantastic.

However, I am currently taking the train so I leave for work at 07h20 and get to work at 08h15, I leave at 17h00 and get home at 17h50.  This is not fantastic at all, it is annoying.

I’m not so sure where Bleach is going.  It seems a bit forced and lacking in story.  Though I am thoroughly enjoying Naruto right now.  I haven’t seen any Air Gear this week but I read so many that I get confused as to which is on a break or taking a hiatus.   And then some are monthly.

Once more, due to working again, I’m keen for weekends.

A little bit slow…

January 8, 2011 at 10:32 (Uncategorized)

I’ve only four phones in my life .  The very first one was a super simple Nokia, I then bought a higher end range phone in the UK under a miscalculation of exchange rate [this is also why I bought a very expensive music].  I hung on to that phone forever because it had cost me so much.  After five years it was rather poorly so I was forced to buy another – a very simple Nokia again.  They are cheap, easy to use and reliable in the simplicity.

Now I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro.  And I have to say, after only having it for about twelve hours and about ten of those I was sleeping, I’m completely hooked on the qwerty keyboard – it’s brilliant.  And it automatically changes orientation, a little thing but I like it.  I also like how it can be changed with the PC.  I’m still learning all the other bits and pieces such as trying to find my photos after I’ve taken them and getting up my email and such but I’ll get there eventually.   Over all, I really like this phone.

Edit 10h43:  Just solved the problem of not being able to find my photos – wasn’t actually taking any…

Township Tours

January 6, 2011 at 18:59 (Uncategorized)

I don’t really get township tours.  Maybe they are appealing like the circus used to be but instead of deformed people you look at poor people.   Queen Victoria I used to take a tour to see poor people so maybe that’s it.  And anyway, ‘township’ drives me mad – because people are poor and Black they can’t live in suburbs, they have to live in townships.  Lets move forward to a brighter future where everyone is equal but keep degrading names so people know where they actually stand.

After the Shounen Jump break I had anticipated an early release but nothing so far.  I also have a half written Micfic but actually thinking in this heat is almost impossible.  I was glad no students were finishing tomorrow as it meant I didn’t have to concentrate on printing certificates.
