Write like…

July 24, 2010 at 21:24 (Uncategorized)

I found this yesterday – I write like

I think these things are fantastic ways to brighten a day – I put all sorts of things in them and see what comes up.  No end of amusement.  On the list are – Cars and Trains got Chuck Palahniuk, my micfic Sunrise got Bram Stoker, fanfic His Last Words got Margaret Mitchell and Maybe a Sonnet got Margret Atwood.  I could have done this all day and giggled endlessly but I didn’t, I returned to my studies – I was very good about it.

Aki-chan and I were at the airport earlier picking up some friends and she was commenting on how she doesn’t like to wait at airports in case she runs into someone she somewhat knows and awkwardness ensues.  My glazed brain is going ‘blah, blah, blah – huge amounts of people, unlikely to ever happen’.  And I look up to see the woman that had the shop next to mine.  Oops…

My manga world is getting smaller – first Alchemist finished and now many sites are closing.  Soon I will have to wait months for so-so translated manga in shops.  I’ve always been eager to buy my manga every week in a magazine but they are so far behind…

At least I still have my other online comics to sustain me while I wait.  There is also the trill of opening a title and I have no idea what its pages hold.  That is something to look forward to 🙂

Cars

July 20, 2010 at 16:13 (Uncategorized)

I sometimes think people are more restricted by cars than having gained freedom with cars.  Having the ability to drive means I can go anywhere that has a road – the Chibi is not an off-roader as Aki and me discovered in a rutted ‘car park’ yesterday evening.  And because I can go anywhere, I work in a residential area too far from anywhere to walk but even if I did some of my duties require me to drive.  This means I am restricted in my movements because I have to remain close to a car.

Possibly this only affects households with one car.  Ha ha ha ha ha ha

‘Sure thing’ – I can think of nothing concrete to write with the theme of ‘sure thing’.  Maybe because it’s two words.  At a massive stretch I can get maybe a hundred words, falling sort by a hundred and fifty words… Having to think and force something isn’t how I view my Micfic – quick, in the moment, not longer than half a hour to plan, write and edit.  I might have to revise my strategy for this one and actually think of something, plan it and then write it.  Only at this moment in time, I want to think, plan and write about something else – something lengthy, something fangirly – lol~

Tea

July 18, 2010 at 21:07 (Uncategorized)

I consume a lot of sugar and I like a lot of it in my tea and the rare cups of coffee.  But I know that when others make my tea, they will not put in all the sugar I ask for.  Somehow ‘three’ becomes ‘two and a half’ – I have three theories [or rather hypothesis] One:  people don’t believe that someone can have three sugars in their tea and still be able to drink it.  Two:  different sized teaspoons or different ideas as to what a ‘teaspoon’ is.  Three:  different sized cups/mugs.

But then I am also quite difficult about it – I have less sugar in my morning tea than I do in my afternoon tea but more sugar in my tea all round during winter.  And I don’t like over sweet tea…   How are others to get it right when I can’t win with myself?

Books

July 16, 2010 at 11:51 (Uncategorized)

Stuff to do with cars makes me angry.  I tried to get some paperwork today but I need a letter say that it can be given to me.  What actually caused me to rage at myself was that I thought I might need such a letter but didn’t act on what I knew to be right.

Once had my rage under control I did what I always do when my plans are foiled – I bought books.  One for me and three for my mother.  Apart from leaving me with no money, I don’t think the bookshelf can take it much longer.

Lotto

July 15, 2010 at 14:49 (Uncategorized)

If I have R10 free available, say in a pocket and there is no queue or I turn right instead of the usual left when leaving the shop or I think ‘oh, I could do with some money’ and I’m happy enough to actually put in the effort of buying a lotto, I buy one.  And then get very annoyed when I don’t win anything.

But I bought one yesterday and noted that 14 is 7 doubled and 7 being a lucky number to some, means that 14 is doubly lucky.  And it’s 07 month so another 7 – that makes it triply lucky.  And keeping with triple, I got three numbers 🙂

Annoyance when not winning and ungrateful when winning because now I’m thinking ‘oh, if only it had been four numbers or five, hell, why not six’ which if I had six numbers would lead me to think  ‘one million, pity it wasn’t the thirty million draw’.

But I am grateful I found ‘The Extraordinary and Unusual Adventures of Horatio Lyle’ by Catherine Webb.  Delightful and beautifully written.  I’m am reading slower than usual so I can capture it all.  Some paragraphs I read again just because they are so wonderful.

Third time lucky

July 12, 2010 at 15:04 (Uncategorized)

Or in my case, unlucky which is even better.  In the 15 minutes it took me to get home from work this afternoon, three people almost rode into me.  I’ve decided the Chibi is in permanent stealth mode.  And it also has great brakes.

Hyourinmaru – this is my absolute favourite of all swords in all games, manga and comics I have read or played.  Thanks to khoi_boi, I have one 😀  It is fantastic.  I am in a state of fan girl glee.

Though it does make me wonder about my attachment to weapons and not characters.

Star Dust

Theatrical dining… Or rather, a place to take people when you can’t entertain them or yourself.  Over priced average food and singing waiters are not how I like to spend an evening.  But that is how my evening was spend.  On the plus side the bar was showing the Spain Germany match highlights – it looked rather exciting.

Fish Food

July 6, 2010 at 15:58 (Uncategorized)

Guppie number four – last remaining guppie – developed a swimming problem.  So rather than have it suffer, Gilgamesh and Valfor had a treat.  Though, it is likely that Valfor didn’t even know the guppie was there before Gilgamesh ate it.  The pigger.  Except he is a fish.  Who ate a fish.  So in fact, he is a cannibal.

Now that I think about it, I had decided some time ago that if the guppie couldn’t make it, it would be fish food.  And then soup was mentioned in Micfic and well, fish bowl, soup bowl… *ahem*
