Seeing as I am unable to make flesh tones that look healthy – I bought some light peachy paint.  Now my colourings shouldn’t look like jaundice awareness posters.

Today I said the single most ridiculous thing that I have ever said, and possible likely to say [but you never know].  Yesterday I ended up doing crazy amounts of cycling and I had to do more today to get to my exam venue so my legs were killer sore and stiff.  No matter what I did they hurt.  And so, on advice, I had a bath and the stiffness and pain eased – it was great.  And then I said, ‘yay, my thighs are wobbly again’.  I even said it out loud.

It just can’t be helped…

October 26, 2009 at 14:02 (Uncategorized)

I’m reading Blazer Drive… And I’m enjoying it.

Why am I such a sucker for typical shounen art?

First exam on Wednesday – English.  Still awaiting response to question involving how English can be both a syllabic and an alphabetic writing system.  If the question does come up again, hopefully 1] it will be worth few marks or 2] my lecturer won’t be marking my paper.  Especially since she keep telling us to refer to our textbook for an explaination and the book clearly states that English is an alphabetic writing system – sigh…   But outside of that I’m fairly confident.

A new phone number can result in you looking a bit like a weirdo.

NT:  Hello.

X: Who’s this?

NT:  Who would you like to speak to?

X:  Christoff.

NT:  There is no one here with that name.

X:  Marco?

NT:  Not that either.

X:  Kevin?

NT:  No.

X:  What number is this?

NT:  I don’t know…

X:  You don’t know your number?

NT:  No.

X:  Your own number?

NT:  No, I don’t.

X:  Oh… Bye.

I know where to find the number but I wasn’t going through the effort.  Besides, he might have started throwing out more names 😛

Nihongo no hi

October 23, 2009 at 18:13 (Uncategorized)

Today was a rather strange day.  I had plans but every time I started something, I would think ‘I usually do Japanese today’.  I wasn’t entirely sure how to process the day.

There are a lot of birds in MB. Especially in the garden; they pick at the grass, fight for the best sand to bath in, make epic nests in the trees and flatten themselves on the warm driveway.  They also try to come inside all the time – as in landing on the sill and pecking at the glass.

However, when they do happen to find an open window, they are fly around in such a panic that they injure themselves and smear blood on the walls and ceilings.  Eventually they fly out once I’ve opened all the windows and doors.  But opening the doors means other little birds come walking in and poop on everything…  It is insane!

Though, it is kind of cool to be woken up at night by owls.

Sodium benzoate

October 17, 2009 at 19:59 (Uncategorized)

Too much of this preservative and I get a migraine so I’ve been trying to filter it out of my diet but it appears to be in everything that I like.  And in things I would never have suspected such as gherkins and pickled onions.  Somethings are almost a given like Iron Brew and Sprite but it’s strangely not in coke…

But the yoga is going along well – less general pain in my body.  Less general pain in my eyes as well but that’s due to supplements – but the light still hurts.  And I’ve started a new series of yoga exercises to reduce migraines – like most natural things they may get worst before they get better.  And I had a rather lengthy one this week – not overly painful, just lingering.  But doing it every day should eventually stop them completely.   I am hoping so.

Today was my last official Japanese lesson…  While I shall be continuing on my own – it won’t be the same.  It’s going to be weird, for the last five years I had a lesson every week.

It can be done

October 10, 2009 at 08:30 (Uncategorized)

If OCRemix can do it so can Mangahelpers.  Some effort, forethought and, possibly, a bit of a positive attitude.

Give a little…
