So close but an ‘old factory assault’ still leads to some confusion.

Sold my first kimono today 😀

And Shuuhei fights again 😀

Wow!

November 27, 2008 at 15:10 (Uncategorized)

How cool is this – testing your abilities with Office 2007 using Office XP.  Oh, the joy!

Though had I not actually done XP when I was at college, I might have had a problem like the lady next to me.  The 2007 textbook is her first foray into Office and she didn’t make it.  Had I been given a choice I would not have done this module – I know people make a living from computers, Aki-chan being one of them, but I don’t really care how they work just so long as they do.

Only two lessons left of Japanese for the year… by the end of the year I am REALLY tired of studying – the exercises hurt my brain.  This year was tougher because of the full course load at UNISA but now that I know, next year should be better with more organisation.  Today’s lesson was good, got a lot done and with only one small error – the error was an exception to the rule so I don’t feel so bad.

Tales of the Fantastic

November 25, 2008 at 11:19 (Uncategorized)

I shall tell a tale of my Monday morning and the conversation that followed later that day.

Monday mornings have no particular feel for me, some find them difficult after the weekend while others view the day with excitement – a new week; fresh and waiting.  To me it is another day in a never ending cycle.  This last Monday did have a feeling though – tired.  The weekend had been spent hunting rodents and removing their corpses.  Saturday night was a loss for sleep as I imagined all night the lost rodent running across the floor and woke at every sound.  I began to believe that the rodent would die and fill the room with the linger smell of death – yet again.  Sunday, my sister was plagued with the smell of death and that evening found a corpse under the sofa.  It was small so was not the mouse from the night before.  Sleep was trouble again with thoughts of spirits haunting the house.  They would be vengeful, having been slain by feline beasts.  Died under floor boards and in walls – terrorised before their life left them…

Then came Monday with it’s own tale and it involved a tail.  The soap drawer of the washing machine was open and appeared to be filled with rodent droppings, I was then informed that there had been movement when the drawer was opened.  Carefully I removed the drawer and there was a tail.  Further along was a furry body; quite alive.  It took a moment but I concluded that the rodent had to be pulled from the machine only I was too slow.  In checking for life as I thought of what to do, my mother jabbed the rodent with a chopstick.  In a flurry, it was gone – into the washing machine!  Time was short and I had to leave but before I left there was the sound of movement from the machine.  I was hopeful.

A later conversation with my mother revealed that the rodent had, indeed, left the machine and hid itself behind the fridge.  Attempts to move the fridge sent the rodent to the lounge and from there it was lost yet again.  With the main doors being open for the duration of the summer day, it is assumed by all parties that the rodent escaped and that shall be the story until I smell otherwise.

End

I swear this really happened – had I not see it for myself I would have been doubtful.  I cannot believe the situations that come up with the cats and mice.

Success

November 23, 2008 at 20:10 (Uncategorized)

I finally managed to upload some picture so I could have spoiler tags for my manga reviews – why must there be pictures?  It was fine [and easier] without them – sigh!  It was very annoying going through the site options and finding one that 1] allowed me to upload pictures, 2] was easy to use and 3] didn’t annoy the crap out of me.  It’s hard to do something that you have no interest in.

Haunted

November 23, 2008 at 17:05 (Uncategorized)

Our house could so be haunted with all the rodents that have died and rotted to nothing.  Yes, this post is for another death and if things go the way I think they will… there shall be another smell of dead soon unless the mouse from last night managed to find a way out.

A meduim could have a field day.

Fiction note:  I’ve enlisted the help of a beta reader to finish the editing of Meteora… I get side tracked with the other stories – editing is BORING!

Senbazuru

November 22, 2008 at 17:51 (Uncategorized)

Well, actually, more like 23…  I’ve filled the shop window with origami cranes for a Xday display.  I don’t think I will ever forget how to fold a flying crane…

There was a Japanese School Sushi Social last night.  I was keen until I heard there was going to be a quiz but it turned out to be a questionnaire so that wasn’t too bad.  I won fourth place based on my knowledge of stuff about Japan.  I won a book by Murakami Haruki called Yagate kanashiki gaikokugo [And then, sorrowful foreign language] – it’s in Japanese but is rather cool anyway.  From my searching, it hasn’t been translated to English.  I did [I think] find a translation of chapter two – a long way from the stuffed cabbage – it’s not offical so I don’t know.  With it were two maps – one of Tokyo and the other of Kanagawa.  As well as cool Naruto picture but I’m not so sure what it is because it has pictures on both side and is made of plastic.

Last month I found some inline skates and even if I had the 600 bucks for them I wouldn’t have taken them; they were camo and gold – grim.  But I found some today for R 150 at a road side stall and they are all one colour and very dark.  At first I saw black but then I cleaned them I saw they were a very dark blue and hardly used at all – bonus.  I also only took them because the soft inners could come out so I could wash them in omo.  I’m pleased 😀

Gilgamesh and Valafor are swimming near the surface looking for food – Gilgamesh is a bit of a bully, he pushes Valafor around and she’s blind in one eye.

Weirdness

November 18, 2008 at 14:05 (Uncategorized)

Yesterday I developed a migraine so I took the strong stuff [I was at work – this does mean that no work happens, I just sit there like a zombie – like this morning as I got over the dregs], it meant that when I cut [not serious] my arm on the glass shelf I didn’t really ‘feel’ it until my fingers brushed the cut and became sticky with blood [minimal beading of blood really].  It was rather weird until today when all pain killers worn off – it stings.  Pain completely out of proportion to the wound – pathetic.

Went to dinner at John Dory’s [Canal Walk] last night.  It was mildly enjoyable – okay food, pain in my head, stiff conversation at times and tired L.  I could not give an accurate review even if I tried.  I know I had ribs.

Now that my cold had gone [finally] I shall once again step out onto the ice BUT there is a sushi evening for the Japanese school on Friday so this means skating next Friday only and pretty soon it’s going to be school holidays.  I refuse to skate with children [or teens – in this case they are the same] – I’ve come to terms with the fact that people younger than me skate better but I am still unable to accept the level of social grace that is displayed – the lack of social skills is something to see [only once though].

Fiction note:  I’ve written almost nothing for the Write a book in a Month thing but have written steadily for my other fiction since I decided to attempt the Write a book in a Month thing.  Writing drama is harder than romance.

Third time round

November 16, 2008 at 18:03 (Uncategorized)

Apparently it’s supposed to be lucky… but with the third dead smell our ‘luck’ is our inability to find the dead animal – I think it is under the floor boards.  There is about a meter of space between the boards and the ground and once something is down there…

The saving is that, being summer, windows can be opened wide.

There was no Naruto this week… leaves many things to ponder over.  I was surprised in Bleach – it was not who I thought and would never have guessed.

L spend the weekend or I should say – is spending the weekend, he goes home tomorrow.

The up coming week is rather full.

EDIT:  A few days ago there was a picture on one of the Square sites about a special message from Cloud.  I automatically thought of a FFVII remake but as Aki-chan said – Cloud is wearing his AC clothes so who knows.  But I think people know where I stand.

Havoc

November 13, 2008 at 07:30 (Uncategorized)

Yay – Havoc is back in action.  I am pleased.  Ane there has been piles of action.

While I’m rather fond of this cool weather, it can be annoying – such as in the middle of the night when it suddenly gets hot and I have too many blankets.  It also means the cats can’t, or rather won’t, play outside.
