Right, okay…

November 29, 2007 at 20:41 (Uncategorized)

…everything is mostly ready for the shop – only short two things but only in name.  One Chubb which is for insurance (that is sorted) but we’re covered for December.  The other is C/Card machine but have solution; it’s not ideal (it’s a bit shit) but there is no other opition I need the machine for December.  The main problem in getting done has been the miscommunication.  Somehow ‘I will bring it to you by X’ became ‘Oh, yes it’s on my desk’ when I phone two days later and I go and fetch it.  I really don’t mind fetching stuff, just let me know I have to do it.  Also getting three, literally, different answers to a question from the same company took some sorting but that’s done as well.

So… all that’s left is the first day of trade.  Saturday.

Dress is finished – it looks quite cool.  The ruffle on the middle skirt took a lot longer than I thought to gather but then I was forcing 11 meters of material into 3.5m of gathering.

In Bleach there are some battles (again) but Byakuya has now joined the fray – YAY!  He is very cool.  He is one of the few characters who didn’t like the lead in the beginning nor during the story arc and he still doesn’t like him; he was not changed by his meeting.

This is the last week before the shop is ours…  It’s a bit odd but by buying the shop I’m ‘loosing’ my job.

Bleach and fire and sewing and pain and …

November 20, 2007 at 16:38 (Uncategorized)

There is another Bleach movie – The Diamond Dust Rebellion.  It’s due for release December 22; at the moment I’m still waiting for the fourth Naruto movie.  Smoczek has blogged about a Dragonball live action movie, I remember a rumour going round years ago but there was nothing to sustain it.  Though I blame Toriyama for the long drawn out battles in Bleach (he gave Tite advice) – you have the Final Attack which gets defeated but it’s okay because there is the Ultimate Attack and if that fails (it always does) there is the Final Ultimate Attack of Doom.  It’s doesn’t help that the opponent also has all these hidden attacks.  I like fight scene but I like concise, clever fight scenes.

On Monday morning really early (04h00 again) there was the smell of smoke in the house, then there was piles of smoke – it turned out that one of the houses in the street behind us was burning but the fire people arrived and put it out.

My dress is taking a lot of work but is looking rather cool – working with metal zips is tricky.  I have to make sure I don’t run the machine over them and break my needle or machine.    I’m even taking pictures as I go so I can put them on my sewing site in case others want something like it.   My shin is still swollen and now yellow fading to purple but it’s not sore to touch.  Improvement!

On Saturday I went to the station market to buy loads of material.  I bought everything I wanted plus more – it was great.  On the way home we stopped at a awesome toyshop and as we got out the car, the wind blew the car door onto my shin.  It’s was one of those pains that if you open your month to yell, you’ll be sick.  It throbbed for the rest of the day but the medication I took for my migraine on Sunday also took away the pain in my shin.  Luckily today it is only sore to touch but my shin is still swollen and blue.

I also messed up the panels on the corset on Saturday so now I have to unpick and resew.

Get it in your head!

Asking for help is not admitting failure.  It goes against so much in me, I feel ill when forced to do so and despondent when I fail.   The chances of failing are small with the correct knowledge which requires asking, meaning failure to my mind – argh!

I almost had heart failure yesterday while waiting for Hagaren to download – it didn’t even take three minutes but it was ages for me.  But relief nearly drowned me after reading it.

Jump Square

November 8, 2007 at 13:25 (Uncategorized)

New manga magazine:  due to poor sales of Monthly Jump it has been cancelled and the new publication is call Jump Square or Jump SQ for short.  I haven’t found anything about the Weekly Jump being cancelled.  Which is good as it has both Bleach and Naruto.  I did at first think it was something new of Square’s as they have the Shonen GanGan (Hagaren and KH) but not so.

Currently sewing for a wedding but really want to sew for myself.  L is here for the day; he is quite tiring and not much gets done.  OM are really being a pain about the lease paperwork and business plan, the stress of that and a slight flu feeling resulted in a migraine on Tuesday which carried through to Wednesday but it was gone by lunch time 🙂  It meant I couldn’t do any work on my fiction 😦

I used to really enjoy them as a kid so I was quite keen to see the movie but was disappointed.  The whole thing was CG – the ‘stupid looking human’ CG I don’t like but the turtles were well done.

I  spend Sunday in the rain judging cross country, getting thoroughly soaked twice.  I was company that got roped into judging – there is nothing to it.  Did they make it – yes/no?  Not sure if I would do it again.  Maybe if I got to be a Judge (XII) 😛  I think it might be a bit distracting; the impressive armour, huge weapons… lots of HP.

My Japanese lesson got cancelled today so I have extra days till the next one but less days after that for the following lesson.  The thing is I know the work for this week and the new stuff is hard so I need all six days between lessons.  Apart from the Japanese and very few working days I do have time to work on a creation… totally inspired by Stardust.  I’m really keen to start this project, it is most likely the biggest thing I’ve done for myself.  It requires layering of skirts, corset and long sleeves – all of which I can do so no problem 🙂  I make lots of stuff and occasionally I get an idea I know will look cool with a little extra work put in – I think this may be one.

Fiction note:  Introduced magic into OF – was well received; glad.  Unsure whether to kill a character in one of my fanfictions – it can easily go either without loosing plot.  Half of me is keen because it would be something different for me while the other half is not so keen as he is a favorite character of mine.

Ice skating – YAY!

November 2, 2007 at 21:14 (Uncategorized)

I went skating again tonight – I’m actually going just about every Friday night these last few weeks.  I’m now getting the hang of it so ended up skating an extra half hour tonight, my legs are kind of jelly like.  I also fell on my arse with a back pocket stuffed with keys.  It’s the first time I’ve fallen since day one.  But it was cool, I was going fast-er than a walk.

Fiction note:  tomorrow is the writing group again; one thing I am pleased about is that I have more time to write again –  especially my crossover and it’s sequel.  The Gate gets a page here and there sometimes.  I also found a library book that was due in August, I forgot I had it.

The crazy rush of October is now done – phew.  There is only the Japanese test at the end of this month which should be okay.  If my Skype is working… it suddenly stopped and I have no idea what to do.  I’m trying again today.

Things are also on the go for the shop – unless a major thing happens we will be owners of a shop from 01 December.  Now that everything is done all the nervous energy I’ve been running on is gone and now I’m quite tired.

I’ve been playing ICO, I set aside some time to play last week,  and it is really pretty but I’m a bit stuck in this one section – in the beginning – it’s rather annoying.  I really dislike timed things – I might actually say I hate them.  But it is pretty cool.

Ten days till Hagaren.

Edit:  I forgot to mention the exams.  The first one went rather well but it was the work I knew best and enjoy the most.  I did make one huge mistake with the essay section – 15 mark question but I did explain my reasoning and I gave examples so hopefully that will count toward something.  The second one was all MCQ of which 80% had all correct answers – you have to choose the most correct so who knows how I did with that.  When it comes to questions I prefer essay as I can explain what’s going on and why I have said what I said rather than right/wrong.
